Maharashtra Solar Subsidy for Societies, Trusts, and Non-Profit

Societies, Trusts, and Non-Profit Organisations in Maharashtra can now avail solar subsidy under Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) scheme. Under this scheme organisations which are tax exempted will receive upto 30% of subsidy on the cost of rooftop solar PV system installed.

A 10kW rooftop PV solar system typically requires 10,000 sq ft of shadow free area, produces on an average 40-45 units in a day, and has a benchmark cost of approximately ₹4.5 lacs.

Procedure to get Solar Subsidy in Maharashtra:
  • Eligible customers such as residential societies, schools, universities, etc should first identify their solar project developer and issue purchase order.
  • Solar project developer will then prepare required documentation and submit it to MEDA online on behalf of the eligible customer.
  • MEDA will issue a provisional approval after reviewing the documents.
  • Solar project developer will commission and install the solar power plant at the site and submit a completion report to MEDA.
  • MEDA officials visit the site and perform site inspection, following which they issue a subsidy grant letter to the eligible customer.
  • After all the processes have been successfully completed, the subsidy amount is directly credited to the account of the eligible customer within 2-3 months of issuing the grant letter.
